Build-ready conceptWhat makes someone return to learn?
The client wanted to strengthen learning habits, particularly beyond a learner's initial burst of enthusiasm. A points-and-leaderboards answer would have been easy to suggest, but the team explored whether it would support the learning itself.
The engagement reframed the question around consistency, support, and the different needs of casual and committed learners.
Turn a broad opportunity into testable mechanics.
The consulting team mapped motivational opportunities, developed hypotheses, and worked with research, design, and engineering on a shared-habits concept. Group contribution rules, automatic freezes, and time-zone behaviour were defined as part of the proposed MVP.
A parallel exploration considered how the profile page could make a learner's progress easier to understand.
A concept ready for a product team to build.
The engagement produced a validated, build-ready shared-habits MVP, with design, implementation rules, and scope documented. It also established a wider product direction: motivation should feel supportive rather than competitive.
